Deborah Winyard Hypnotherapy in Reading Qualifications and Experience

I first came across Hypnotherapy as a client many years ago. Like many people, my discovery of the effectiveness of hypnotherapy started with a word-of-mouth recommendation through a friend. Taking that friend's advice and visiting the hypnotherapist they recommended turned out to be a great decision.

Like most professions in life, qualifications are only the starting point and just as valuable is the experience that years of working as a full-time practitioner can bring.

I decided to study for my Hypnotherapy qualification via the university post-graduate route. The course I chose satisfied the scientist in me, as the practical part of the course was balanced with academic study examining the evidence behind the techniques being taught.

And of course I continue to take additional courses to develop my expertise and enhance my ability to help clients with hypnotherapy in Reading. I have since developed my skills to include training in EMDR which is an NHS recommended treatment for PTSD and can also be a really effective approach to help with Anxiety and Pain Management.

More recently I attended training to increase my understanding of PNI (Psychoneuroimmunology) and the role hypnosis sessions have in helping clients with symptoms stemming from their immune system responses.

The quality of my practice is overseen by the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH). I am also proud to be an AnxietyUK approved therapist.

I am subject to Anxiety UK’s regular monitoring of my professional qualifications, supervision, continual professional development, insurance and professional body membership in addition to complying with the ethical framework and professional standards set down by the BSCH. I'm also registered with Psychology Today.

When I’m not working I enjoy being outdoors, preferably near or under the sea. I love scuba diving, although this is taking a back seat at the moment as my partner and I introduce our daughter to the wonders of the UK’s beautiful beaches. So these days I am more likely to be seen lying by a rock pool searching for crabs than under the water. We do still manage our annual diving holiday to the Isles of Scilly off the coast of Cornwall, where there are fascinating shipwrecks, stunning underwater walls and pinnacles to explore.

I also enjoy being part of the local community. I am a scout leader with the 1st Lower Earley Scouting Group and also enjoy taking part in Woodley Park Runs and Reading Park Runs.
